Trevor Rogers Continuing to Struggle Against NL East Rivals

Atlanta Braves Dominate Marlins Pitcher for Eighth Win in Nine Games

Miami Marlins Starting Pitcher Trevor Rogers has yet to find success against a key NL East rival in the Atlanta Braves.

Rogers failed to make it out of the sixth inning for the third time this year, allowing six runs on 10 hits and two walks against the Braves on Monday night. It was the fifth time in as many starts that Rogers allowed four or more runs. The Marlins have lost all five of those starts, including three to the Braves.

Even more concerning for the Marlins, Rogers has allowed eight home runs in five starts against the Braves this season, with five of those homers coming in his last two starts. The Braves have won seven of their last eight games against the Marlins, with Rogers starting and losing the last three.

Other than the Braves, Rogers has only faced the New York Mets in the NL East this season, going 1-1 with a 3.46 ERA in two starts. He will get another chance to break through against a division rival when he faces the Philadelphia Phillies on Saturday.

The Marlins are hoping that Rogers can turn things around against the Phillies, as they are currently 10-17 and in last place in the NL East. Rogers has pitched well against the Phillies in the past, going 2-0 with a 1.76 ERA in two starts last season.
