Edin Terzić: A Renowned Football Coach and Former Player

Early Life and Career

Edin Terzić, pronounced êdiːn těrziːtɕ, was born on October 30, 1982, in Menden, Germany. He began his football career as a player for the local club SV Menden. Terzić later moved to Borussia Dortmund, where he played as a midfielder from 2002 to 2010.

Coaching Career

After retiring as a player, Terzić transitioned into coaching. He initially served as an assistant coach for Borussia Dortmund's youth teams, where he gained valuable experience in developing young players. In 2018, he was appointed as the head coach of the Borussia Dortmund U19 team, guiding them to several impressive performances.

In December 2020, Terzić was named interim head coach of Borussia Dortmund's senior team following the departure of Lucien Favre. Despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, Terzić led the team to a DFB-Pokal victory and a second-place finish in the Bundesliga. His success earned him a permanent contract as head coach in May 2021.

During his tenure as head coach, Terzić has implemented an attacking style of play, emphasizing possession and high press. He has also shown a commitment to nurturing young talent, giving several academy products opportunities to shine in the first team.
