Canucks' DeSmith Shines, Pettersson Lifts Vancouver to Victory

Vancouver Extends Pacific Division Lead

Elias Pettersson scored a third-period goal to break a 1-1 tie, and Casey DeSmith made 32 saves as the Vancouver Canucks defeated the Edmonton Oilers 3-1 on Saturday night.

The win strengthens Vancouver's lead atop the Pacific Division. Pettersson's goal came at 10:32 of the third period, assisted by Brock Boeser and Tyler Myers.

Vancouver opened the scoring in the first period on a goal by Bo Horvat, assisted by Pettersson. Edmonton tied the game in the second period on a goal by Connor McDavid, assisted by Leon Draisaitl and Evan Bouchard.

DeSmith was solid in net for Vancouver, stopping 32 of the 33 shots he faced. Mike Smith made 27 saves for Edmonton.

With the win, the Canucks improve to 45-18-8 on the season, while the Oilers fall to 37-23-10.
